On early morning Tuesday, September 29th, 2009 American Samoa was struck by a major earthquake which was followed up by a tsunami that has devastated many in the local community. In the wake of the tsunami many lost their lives, and their homes. Upon the release of photos, and stories where people shared the experience of the tsunami or the effect of the tsunami, the out poor to provide help, or assistance from the outside world was enormous.

Beginning October 1, 2009, the American Samoa Community Cancer Coalition (ASCCC) has been accepting donations to provide relief to the American Samoa tsunami victims. This can be done by through the ASCCC website by visiting the "donations" section, or can be mailed to P.O. Box 1716, Pago Pago, AS 96799. These donations will be used to purchase food items, and necessary items for the local villagers. Any donations made to the ASCCC is tax deductible.
