ACE American Industries makes holiday donation to the American Samoa Community Cancer Coalition

Collaboration and partnership are the guiding principles of the American Samoa Community Cancer Coalition to help people of American Samoa overcome barriers within the cancer care continuum. And due to a partnership with ACE American Industries, another organization that is committed to community service, some people affected with cancer will have some sign of relief during this holiday season.

ACE wanted to extend it's reach out to the community because of the economic downtown and the devastating tsunami that hit earlier in 2009. But they wanted to try something different and to try to fundraise for a charity or non-profit organization that it feels has done some great things for the community. For their first effort, they chose the ASCCC.

ACE contacted members of the ASCCC board of directors of this new effort, and they were excited. The fundraising activity was simple. When a customer made a purchase at ACE, cashiers would ask them if they'd like to make a donation to the ASCCC. If someone made a donation, an angel was posted on the walls above the Customer Service Department, and represented the contribution. Also, with any donation made, ACE matched the dollar amount.

The campaign began in early December and ended during Christmas week, and according to the ACE management exactly $1,045.90 was donated. With the match from ACE, the total contribution was $2,091.80. ASCCC plans on using the donated funds for stipends to diagnosed cancer patients to normally help them with the high costs of treatment.

The ASCCC is honored to partner with ACE's staff and management team and would like to recognize their continuing effort to helping the community in this hard fought year.
