It’s a challenge for many of our loved ones who have been diagnosed with cancer while living in American Samoa. Off-island referral and family assistance is a great need for our cancer patients because of the very limited medical treatment available on island.

Ovarian cancer patient Ana Auvaa Brown recently flew off-island to undergo chemotherapy at the Good Samaritan Cancer Center in Puyallup, Washington. She is with her daughter and brother who are by her side throughout this painful time in her life.

On Monday, December 4th, her husband Mr. Simeni accepts the $500 stipend on her behalf. With tears in his eyes, he says, “thank you” to all those who make this stipend program possible.

ASCCC is fortunate to witness the gratitude in the hearts of those who are stipend recipients. It is from the kindness from community members like you who makes life better for others.

If you wish to support the cancer patient stipend program under ASCCC this month, stop by Neil’s ACE Home Center and support the Holiday Angels Fundraiser! Their goal is to raise $10,000 and match it, making a possible total donation of $20,000! No purchase necessary. If you would like to make a donation see any of the cashiers. All proceeds will be used for financial stipends to cancer patients diagnosed on island.
